Guide To Direct Opening Part 2 – Follow Up

Over the past few years, a lot has been made over the differences between direct and indirect game. In my experience this is mostly just marketing hype. Game is game. The only differences are in the opening styles.

With a direct opener, you are stating your interest in meeting them right away. Notice I said your interest in meeting them. Not your interest in sleeping with them, buying them a drink, or dancing with them. The fundamental difference between direct and indirect is that with an indirect opener, who the girls are doesn't matter. With an indirect opener you are being social and friendly but it doesn't matter to who you're talking to. You are trying to convey that you are just out to chat with random people, not this group specifically. With a direct opener on the other hand, you are specifically interested in talking with that group of people.

So now that we understand that, let's talk about the advantages and disadvantages to direct opening.

What are the advantages of direct opening?

The first advantage of opening directly is that it cuts out a lot of unneccesary bullshit. When you state your interest in meeting the girl or the group, you don't have to worry about getting into a normal conversation. When you open indirectly, you have to transition into a normal conversation. With a direct opener you can go straight into any sort of conversational topic you want, because they already know why you're talking to them.

The next advantage of opening direct is that it causes attraction. Having the balls to approach a group of girls and let them know you're interested in meeting them, takes balls. Women are attracted to the type of men who go after what they want. By opening direct you demonstrate that you're that type of man.

The last advantage of going direct is that you can use the same opener over and over again without getting called out. This is especially useful if you're going to be doing a lot of approaches in the same club or if you live in a smaller town. If you run opinion openers and people hear you asking the same question over and over it can get weird, however if you open directly you just seem like a fun social guy.

Now there is one major disadvantage to opening direct, and that is that it forces the girl(s) to make an instant yes or no decision about whether or not they want to talk to you. This can be a problem if you have issues with your body language, fashion, etc...

Another disadvantage to opening direct is that you don't get the built in 30 seconds to a minute of conversation you get with opinion openers. So you need to have better than basic conversational repertoire, or you can easily slip into interview questions.

Ok, so now that we know what the differences, advantages, and disadvantages between direct and indirect opening are, we can move onto into some direct openers.

First let's look at what's NOT a direct opener:

" Hey, what's your name?"

"You're beautiful"

" Can I buy you a drink?"

These openers while directly stating interest in the girl are wrong because they are expecting something of the girl. A direct opener has to be low pressure for the girls. In fact the more humor you can inject into direct openers the better they work.

Here's a few of my favorite direct openers:

1. The Facebook opener- " You guys seem cool, so I had to come over here and meet you. You can consider this a real life facebook friend request."

2. The bored opener- " Hey guys, my friends are having a really boring conversation, so I hope you guys are interesting or I'm gonna go bang my head against the wall til I pass out."

3. Are you friendly?- You guys seem cool, are you friendly-Credit David Deangelo.

4. The douchebag opener- Hey guys, I'm a really big douchebag, will you be my friends?-Credit Jlaix of RSD

5. Only girls in here cool enough opener- Hey guys, I have walked all around this club and I've decided that you are the only girls interesting enough to talk to. So now we're talking. good.-Credit Brad P

Now that you've opened a set direct you have to learn to follow up off the opener, and that will be the subject of the next email.
